Vintage From Paul is delighted to offer these Criss Cross Optic tumblers produced by the Hocking Glass Company (before the merge with Anchor) in 1933. Criss cross can be found in green, yellow, pink and crystal.

A patent was applied for this design by the inventor Ferdinand Barbiers for the Hocking Glass Company on January 1, 1932. The patent was granted on May 9, 1933. The design patent number is D-89845-1.

The Hocking Glass Company began in 1905 in Lancaster, Ohio, and its glassware was ubiquitous during the Depression era. Hocking started in hand blown glass and expanded into machine made glass in the 1920's. Bottles, tableware, lamp chimneys, and decorative glass ware were produced by Hocking. Hocking probably produced more designs than any other glass company of its time, making it possible for collectors of Depression glass to easily locate pieces at antique shops and flea markets. Hocking produced pressed glass, acid-etched patterns, and mold-etched patterns. By 1937, Hocking merged with several other companies to form the Anchor Hocking Corporation.
