Vintage From Paul is delighted to offer this stunning Westmoreland Glass EAPG STERLING Blazing Star Sugar Bowl.  The Sterling pattern is also known as "Blazing Star" and "Pinwheels"

Sterling was made by the Westmoreland Specialty Company and the design was patented on November 17, 1891.  The design appeared again in a Westmoreland 1896 Glass Catalogue and again in 1917 with a toy punch bowl and place setting added to the collection.

Sterling is made of fine, clear glass of good weight and thickness, with no discolorations...glistening and attractive!  The sugar bowl is cylindrical, bulging slightly just below the middle, and slightly constricted at the rim.  The base carries a large, plain 20 rayed star.

The rim is evenly scalloped and there is a little "shelf" o the interior of the rim which would accommodate a cover, which is missing.

Sterling consists of several blended motifs and covers the entire body of the sygar bowlSix long diamonds are filled with small faceted bits and surrounded with deep slashed lines running from top to bottom of adjacent figures in the intersections.  At the top and the bottom of these secondary diamond figures are rosettes or pinwheels.

The Westmoreland Glass EAPG Sterling Blazing Star Sugar Bowl stands 3-1/2 inches in height, measures 5 inches from handle to handle and has an upper bowl diameter of 3-3/8 inches.

The Westmoreland Glass EAPG Sterling Blazing Star Sugar Bowl has clear glistening glass with no sickness or sun purpling.  The only thing that we do see is that one of the top scallops on the rim is chipped.
